Best size = the smallest tote that fits your laptop and the things you carry every day. Go bigger only if you really use the room — an empty oversized tote just slumps and weighs your shoulder.
Quick answer
For most women, a medium leather tote around 32 × 28 cm is the best work size — it fits a 13–14″ laptop flat, a notebook, and a pouch without slumping. Size up to ~33 cm only if you also carry lunch or a water bottle; size down under 28 cm if you usually go laptop-free.
Small tote (under 28 cm wide)
Carries a tablet, wallet, phone, and a few essentials. Great for laptop-free days or a short walk to a cafe. Too small for a 13-inch laptop, so skip it if you commute with one.
Medium tote (about 32 × 28 cm) — the safe everyday pick
This is the work default. It fits a 13-inch laptop and most 14-inch laptops (a 14″ is ~32.5 × 22.5 cm; our totes are 31–33 cm wide), a notebook, and a pouch, and still stands up when half-full. Examples from our line:
- Goyard-style Zip Tote — 32 × 28 × 13 cm, genuine leather, zip top.
- French-style Leather Tote — 32 × 29 × 13 cm, structured and office-clean.
- Macaron Patchwork Tote — 32 × 29 × 14 cm, a touch more depth for a water bottle.
Large tote (33 cm wide, 14 cm deep)
Choose this if you pack a laptop and lunch, a paper notebook, and a pouch. The handwoven light-luxury tote (33 × 28 × 14 cm) and the woven-wing leather tote (32 × 28 × 14 cm) sit here. They stay structured because the load fills them.
Laptop capacity, in plain numbers
| Laptop | Rough size | Fits our totes? |
|---|---|---|
| 13″ | ~30 × 21 cm | Yes — all leather totes |
| 14″ | ~32.5 × 22.5 cm | Yes — most (check interior) |
| 15.6″ | ~36 × 24 cm | Usually no — too wide for a 33 cm tote |
Office use: don't forget the drop
Width gets the attention, but the strap drop decides comfort. A 28–30 cm drop lets the tote rest at your hip. Too short and it rides under your arm; too long and it bangs your knee when you walk.
